Sick/housebound Please contact the parish office and let us know of neighbours/family members who are unable to come to Church and would like to receive Communion or call 07405803862. We remember in our prayers those who are sick, housebound or in hospital & those who care for them and their families. Please, when on admission in the hospital or care home, volunteer the information of your faith as you won’t be asked ordinarily.

Holy Rosary  October is the month of the Holy Rosary and will be said 30 minutes before every Mass Monday to Saturday morning and 5.30pm on Sunday. Everyone is welcome, please join us. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

Harvest  This weekend, 20th October, we will celebrate Harvest Sunday. We welcome the pupils from St John’s Primary School to the 10.30am Mass and they will bring their offerings for the foodbank and participate in the Readings and Mass. We will be collecting at all masses for the foodbank this weekend.

Baptism We welcome into our parish family Rudie Costello Murphy who was baptized this weekend. Application forms for Baptism are available from the back of the Church or the parish office. Families need to attend a talk before the baptism. Please phone/email the office if you wish to attend (Next session is Monday 11th Nov).

Wedding  Our prayers, congratulations and best wishes to Nikodem Kedziora and Alyssa Paala on their wedding this weekend at St John’s. Please make an appointment to see the Parish Priest if you would like to get married at St John’s.

Last weeks collections  £1,174.58. This Sunday: second collection for Missio which support foreign missions. Thank you for your continued generosity and to those people who pay by standing order and contactless.

Knights of St Columba will be having a farewell Mass for Brother Jude Mordi RIP on Thursday 24th Oct at 7pm. All are welcome to join us.

Coffee Morning. Our SVP group invites you all to a coffee morning after 8.30am & 10.30am Masses next Sunday 27th October in aid of SVP South Sudan Appeal. All proceeds will be donated to support the work of SVP in South Sudan.

School form signing  Fr Stephen will be available to sign school forms on Wednesday 3-6pm.

Parish Bazaar This years bazaar will be held at St John’s Comp School on Saturday 30th Nov. Draw tickets are now available. Tickets are 50p or £2.50 a book. We would be delighted if you could take and sell them to your family and friends and encourage them to come to the Bazaar. Please return counterfoils and money by placing in a marked envelope in the    collection plate, one of the priests or parish office. Please do let us know if you are able to donate to the raffle. A box is available for donations for the bazaar – bottles, toys, teddies, unwanted gifts etc all gratefully accepted. We are also looking for help or new stalls/ideas. Contact the office or talk to Father.

Afternoon for Readers to introduce the new translation for the Lectionary led by Bishop Paul Hendricks at St Thomas of Canterbury, CT1 2HJ on Sat 2nd Nov 2-4pm   

RCIA You are welcome to the Catholic Church Are you searching or want to review your faith or may be interested in joining the Catholic community, or wish to be Confirmed. A new course has just started 7.30-8.30pm. Please let                 Fr Stephen know if you would like to join.

200 club Draw  September Winners 1st: £55 – Jensen Garratt, 2nd:  £35 – Josephine Perrett, 3rd: £25 – Mary Gaskill, 4th: £15 – Ita Hannon. We held the draw on Wednesday 9th October in the Coffee Bar. This was the final draw as it has been decided not to renew subscriptions this year. Thank you for your support over the years.

Fr Stephen Ojapah msp has written a book titled ‘Tears and Torture; 33 Days in Kidnappers Den’. If you wish to purchase a copy of the book (minimum donation £15) they will be available from a steward after Masses, the Repository or contact the office. The book is also available on Amazon.

Booking Mass IntentionsEnvelopes for Masses are available at the back of the Church, write the intention and put the stipend in the envelope. Please do not use the Dona Machine for Mass stipends

Wednesday Tea/Coffee  Refreshments are served in the Coffee bar after 12 noon Mass. All welcome.

 Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Christ is really present in the Blessed Sacrament; come and talk heart to heart with Him, either on Wed (10am-12noon) or Sat after 10am Mass until 12.30pm; or 1st Friday 24 hour Adoration.

Mother’s prayer group will take place straight after the 9.15 mass on Friday 11th October. Join us if you can .

Open Morning at St John’s Catholic Primary School – If your child is due to start school in September 2025, please bring your child along to our open morning on Saturday 16th November.  Archbishop John invites young adults (18-40) to join him at St George’s Cathedral for “An Evening with Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati” on Thurs 31st Oct at 6:30 pm. No tickets necessary, just turn up.

Padre Pio Prayer Group each Tuesday  straight after 9.15am Mass in the Cry Chapel. All welcome to join us in prayer. We especially remember our sick friends and family.
