Our wonderful celebrations this Christmas could never have gone ahead without so many people giving their time and skill to the Parish, and all those people who work so tirelessly throughout the year behind the scenes. Those who look after St Mary’s and St Katherine’s & the Parish committees. To those who take communion and visit the sick and housebound. The Sisters of Mercy and Schools including Headteachers/Teachers. We are blessed to have so many dedicated parishioners. The Church was sparkling clean; special thanks to the cleaners.
May our Mother Mary, and our patron Saint John the Evangelist, pray for us. Wishing you and your families a very happy, peaceful and blessed New Year. Finally, thank you for your generous Christmas cards and gifts.
This weekend there is a Pastoral Letter from Archbishop John Wilson to be read at all Masses. Copies are available at the back of the Church.
New Year’s Eve Mass will be celebrated at 10.30pm. Everyone is invited. We encourage bring and share.
New Year’s Day This Wednesday 1st January we will celebrate Fr Stephen’s 40th birthday. We have Adoration at 10am and Mass at 12 noon. After Mass please join us for a celebration in the coffee bar. If you are able please bring a plate of food to share.
First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be held in the Church this Friday 3rd Jan. It will start at 2.30pm with Rosary, 3pm Divine Mercy Chaplet and Exposition. All are welcome to join us.
There will be 24hours continuous Adoration on Friday 3rd Jan after 9.15am Mass until 10.00am Sat 4th Jan. If you are able, please sign the clipboard at the back of the Church so that we can be sure that there will always be someone with Our Lord. Adoration also held on Wednesday 10-12 and Saturday 10.30-12.30pm
First Saturday Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary On the first Saturday of each month a service will be held 11.30-12.30pm in the Church. Everyone is welcome to join us in prayer next Saturday 4th January.
School Forms We will be available to sign school forms on Friday 3rd Jan between 12-2pm in the Presbytery. Please note that the day and times may change each week.
Missionary Society of St Paul will be celebrating their Silver Jubilee of serving in the UK. A special Mass will be held at St George’s Cathedral on Friday 14th February at 6.30pm. All are invited to this special occasion.

Confirmation The preparation programme for young people in Years 8-13 at school or 13 years of age by 1 September 2025, who are interested in being confirmed in 2025 begins in January 2025. To register for the programme please complete the Google Form: https://forms.gle/Getb9fGoGsNY1JTX9

Booking Mass Intentions: Envelopes for Masses are available at the back of the Church, write the intention and put the stipend (Diocesan recommendation is £10) in the envelope. Please do not use the Dona Machine for Mass stipends.
Baptism Application forms for Baptism are available from the back of the Church or the parish office. Families need to attend a preparation session before the baptism (the next session is Monday 13th Jan @7pm). Please email the office.
Mother’s prayer group takes place straight after the 9.15 mass every Friday. You are invited to join us and pray for our children especially.
Padre Pio Prayer Group each Tuesday straight after 9.15am Mass in the Cry Chapel. All welcome to join us in prayer. We especially remember our sick friends and family.

Jubilee Year 2025 Pope Francis has announced that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee “Pilgrims of Hope”. – an event that happens every 25 years. The Jubilee Year will begin with the opening of the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica on Christmas Eve 2024 and ends on January 6, 2026, with the closing of the Holy Door. We have some booklets explaining the year ahead at the back of the Church (£1.50). We will be speaking about our parish plans soon.
Crib Thank you to the team of crib builders and maintaining the beautiful crib figures.
Sick/housebound Please contact the parish office and let us know of neighbours/family members who are unable to come to Church and would like to receive Communion or call 07405803862. We remember in our prayers those who are sick, housebound or in hospital & those who care for them and their families. Please, when on admission in the hospital or care home, volunteer the information of your faith as you won’t be asked ordinarily.
