The third World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly will be celebrated today Sunday 23rd July, near the Feast of Sts Joachim and Anne . The theme chosen by the Holy Father is “His mercy is from age to age” (Lk 1:50), which expresses the link with World Youth Day which will take place a few days later in Lisbon (1-6 August 2023). Pope Francis instituted this Day in 2021 since, he believes, grandparents are often forgotten, yet they “are the link between generations, passing on the experience of life and faith to the young.”
