Sick/housebound Please contact the parish office and let us know of neighbours/family members who are unable to come to Church and would like to receive Communion or call 07405803862. We remember in our prayers those who are sick, housebound or in     hospital & those who care for them and their families. Please, when on admission in the hospital or care home, volunteer the information of your faith as you won’t be asked  ordinarily.

Holy Day of Obligation  This Tuesday15th August is the Feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary and is a Holy day of Obligation. Masses will be 9.15am, 12 noon and 7pm at St John’s.

Thursday 9.15am Mass  During the school holidays, Thursday morning Mass will be held in the Church.

Last weeks collections  £817.53. Thank you for your continued generosity. Thank you to all those people who also pay by standing order – forms are available on the information table if you would like to make your donation to the Church in this way instead of using gift aid envelopes or cash. Forms are available in the porch.

First Holy Communion Preparation for Children at Non Catholic Schools Application forms are now available at the back of the Church. Sr Elizabeth will start preparation classes on Saturday14th October. Please return completed forms to the parish office or hand to one of the Priests by the end of September.

 Wednesday Tea/Coffee  Come and join the fellowship after the 12 noon Mass on Wednesday.

Wedding  Our prayers and congratulations to Miriama Rvulo and Kolinio Bawaqa on their wedding this weekend at St John’s. Please make an appointment to see the Parish Priest if you would like to get married at St John’s.

Foodbank We will be collecting for the Foodbank at all Masses this weekend, 12th & 13th August. The most needed items are Longlife Milk, Biscuits & Crackers, Tinned Fruit, Tinned Custard, Tinned Meat, Tinned Veg, Instant Mash and Sweets & Chocolate Bars. Thank you for your support.

Safeguarding – Parents, please be aware that during the summer months, the side door to the church (by the toilets), is unlocked and often held open to allow for ventilation in the church. PLEASE accompany your children to the toilet and do not let them wander out into the car park (or worse, into Edwin Street).

Mass IntentionsIf you would like to have a Mass offered for an intention, please fill in one of marked envelopes and hand to one of the priests or call at the presbytery between 10-2pm if you would like a specific mass. We cannot always allocate a Mass on the date requested as it may have already been booked, however, your Mass may be shared if you wish.

Baptisms We welcome into our parish family Tobi Oluwole and Kira Fitzgerald who were baptized this weekend. Application forms for Baptism are available from the back of the Church or the parish office. Families need to attend a talk before the baptism. Please phone/email the office if you wish to attend (Next session is Monday 11 Sept).

Children’s liturgy – Children’s liturgy does not run in August. We run on first and third Sunday’s of the month and will return on Sunday 3rd September.

RCIA  We welcome anyone who is searching or wants to review their faith or may be interested in joining the Catholic     community, or wishes to be Confirmed. Please contact the parish office or speak to Fr Moses.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Come to me all who labour and are overburdened and I will give you rest. Come, pray, rest & watch before the Blessed Sacrament, either on Wed (9.30–11.30) or Sat after 10am Mass until 12.30pm.

Padre Pio Prayer Group each Tuesday  straight after 9.15am Mass in the Cry Chapel. All welcome to join us in prayer. We especially remember our sick friends and family.

Divine Mercy Chaplet The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be online at 3pm Monday – Friday. Click here for how to join the online meetings as well as the prayers if you wish to say the Chaplet privately.

International Mass – Celebrating our Unity and Diversity 25th September 2022  We want to celebrate our togetherness. Pope Francis announces the theme as “Building the future together.” –  humanity as brothers and sisters. We are blessed with diverse nationalities in our parish. Let us celebrate our fraternity with a very special International Mass. Please save the date so we can all celebrate as a parish community – this was a wonderful successful day last year. Can your community help to sing a part of the Mass?
