Sick/housebound Please contact the parish office and let us know of neighbours/family members who are unable to come to Church and would like to receive Communion or call 07405803862. We remember in our prayers those who are sick, housebound or in hospital & those who care for them and their families. Please, when on admission in the hospital or care home, volunteer the information of your faith as you won’t be asked ordinarily.
Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham Please would you put your name on an envelope with how many seats you require. Adults @ £20 and children free. Your envelopes may be put into the collection plate, handed to one of the priests or the parish office. (or Marie Hughes). We would like to confirm the numbers as the coaches need to be paid. (Please do let us know if you are unable to come that day if your name was on the list.)
Take part in a spiritual “Pilgrimage to Pentecost” Starts each Friday 2 May—7th June in person at St John’s @ 7pm, Scripture reflections in a specially written course booklet, six weekly filmed talks pre-recorded at diocesan Jubilee shrines and churches and the closing Mass at the at The Friars, Aylesford on Saturday 7 June. Booklets available @ £3.50 each.
Last weeks collections £1,177.32, St George’s Cathedral £368.47. This week: There will be a second collection to help fund the trip to Walsingham. Next Sunday: a second collection for Priests Training Fund which helps to meet the cost of training students for the priesthood and the permanent diaconate. Thank you for your continued generosity and to those people who pay by standing order and contactless. We are ever so grateful.
Youth retreat for 13-17 years old on 10th May 11am-4pm at Chatham. £5 per Child and £8 for Families (Lunch included). The Parish will coordinate transportation services to and from Chatham. Parents should contact Millicent Afeeva, Pauline Juma, and Marie Hughes (Denton) for more information.
MSP Mission Appeal 17/18 May Every year the Diocese allows one Congregation to make an appeal for support of their Mission work; this year it happens to be MSP. Please support the work we do with the girl child, youths, the poor in missions like Chad and South Sudan
Baptism We welcome into our parish family Emmanuel Okoro, Collins Okoro and Eloise Bicknell who were baptized this weekend. Application forms for Baptism are available from the back of the Church or the parish office. Families need to attend a preparation session before the baptism (the next session is Monday 12th May @7pm). Please email the office.
Altar servers Rally at The Friars, Aylesford this Monday 5th May. Mass will be celebrated at 11.30am. Everyone is welcome to attend especially our Altar servers, families and friends.
Wedding Our prayers, congratulations and best wishes to Sabrina Soosaiaiyah and Devin Jenis on their wedding at St John’s. Please make an appointment to see the Parish Priest if you would like to get married at St John’s.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Christ is really present in the Blessed Sacrament; come and talk heart to heart with Him, either on Wed (12.30-6pm – please sign up so that there will always be someone with Our Lord) or Sat after 10am Mass until 12.30pm; or 1st Friday 24 hour Adoration.
Foodbank We will be collecting donations for the Foodbank next weekend 10th & 11th May. The most needed items are Tinned Fruit & Veg, Tuna, Biscuits & Crackers, Squash, Couscous & Longlife Milk. Thank you for your support.
Mass in Celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage July 12th, at St George’s Cathedral. If you are celebrating your 1st/10th/25th/40th/50th/60th + wedding anniversary this year, please let us know as soon as possible, providing the following details: your names in the format John and Mary Smith, your home address, your parish, and the anniversary you are celebrating, so you can receive an invitation from the Archbishop for the renewal of vows during Mass. Jubilee Celebration at Aylesford Priory Archbishop John is inviting us all to join him at Aylesford Priory on Saturday 7 June, 10 am-5 pm, for our Archdiocese of Southwark Jubilee Celebration Day. It promises to be a great event!
